My truck is an ex USAF M1026 Weapons Carrier w/winch
It saw active service at Prince Sultan Air Base, Al Khaj, Saudi Arabia during and after the first Gulf War.
It was scrapped by the USAF at Al Khaj and the scrap sold to a Saudi Officer who then sold it (along with 15+ others) to an Australian National who was visiting Saudi Arabia.
Who then imported it to Australia
I bought the truck in January 2001 and started converting it from Left Hand Drive to Right Hand Drive in March 2001.
After 9 months of exhaustive work, I completed the conversion (at home in my garage) and the truck was driven in RHD in mid December 2001. I completed the certification and registration process in early 2002.
The truck is used Primarily as my toy, but I also use it for severe off roading with my family 2 or 3 times a year.
The aim of my blog is to document the work I’ve done on the truck to make it easier for those who follow.
